Wdding Picnic Modern edgeModern Wedding Catering Ideas

Other than the wedding venue and entertainment, your catering choice is one of the most important decisions you will make for the big day. Choosing a caterer based  solely on price can leave your guests feeling hungry and miserable, while other caterers charge you for everything under the sun. When choosing a caterer do your homework! Check to make sure they have proper insurance and health department certificates. Also, I feel that your relationship with your caterer should feel comfortable for both parties, because of the amount of money you will spend as well as the need to have the great food on your wedding day!  Finding the right caterer will bring your event more creative food and can bring such energy and more satisfied guests.

While some people prefer the idea of a traditional sit-down meal or the old buffet, it doesn’t appeal to every bride and groom-to-be. If you want something a bit different, there’s a whole world of choices out there when it comes to catering, with inspiration taken from some modern cuisine across the globe and brought to Colorado for your event. Here are MODERN EDGE catering ideas for your wedding.

1. A Colorado Picnic

There’s something whimsical and romantic about a picnic; making it a wonderfully casual way to enjoy food on your wedding day. With summertime Colorado weddings being outdoors it is a good time to embrace the quintessentially tradition with blankets and wicker picnic baskets, or piles of cushions under an awning – just in case Colorado weather doesn’t play well. Mini sandwich stations, artisan cheeses, local foods and fresh breads are the order of the day!

2. Oyster bar

Bringing a bit of class to your wedding, oysters are famed for being a natural aphrodisiac! Traditionally enjoyed raw, our oyster bars will also include a cooked BBQ nolla – along with an array of sauces to complement your shellfish. If you do opt for an oyster bar, be sure to offer an alternative as this may evoke a love-it-or-hate-it for your guests.

 3. Bonfire Food

As night falls, a bonfire (IF ALLOWED or at least the setting) is a fabulous way to bring your guests together in child-like party. Bonfire food ideas can include roasted nuts,  homemade marshmallows, or make-your-own s’mores – a great Colorado treat. If you do opt for a bonfire, check with the venue or site first and make sure you observe safety guidelines.

4. Food Truck Style Taco Station

With the popularity of Southwestern cuisine in Colorado and Denver. Traditional southwestern food can be wonderfully fresh, fun, and most importantly – utterly delicious. A food truck style taco station with soft corn tortillas, traditional pork ‘al pastor’ and help yourself salsa’s, Oaxaca cheese and habanero sauce will be a sure hit with adults and children too.

5. Comfort Foods

Comfort food can be the sure hit on your wedding day and nothing speaks comfort food more than steak and potatoes. Tenderloin is our choice for the low fat and ease of cutting, farm to table veggies and homemade desserts. Mashed potatoes don’t have to be simple  either: like our horseradish mashed potatoes. Embrace all local vegetables, seasonings and herbs!
